🦴 ANATOMY GUIDE 🦴
★ GENERAL ★
The first and foremost important thing to remember with Reapers is their feathers. For reasons unknown, feathers are a defining trait for Reapers and the odds of finding one without feathers is incredibly rare. Reapers generally stand anywhere from 4'-7' tall, but heights can vastly vary. Their skin is thicker than ours being able to withstand more force to it. Their skeleton and internal organs are near identical to humans and function the same as well, but can come in a wide array of colors. While Reapers don't need any sustenance to survive, they are still able to indulge in things such as eating, sleeping, drinking, etc. Their bodies will react accordingly to such acts, including both positive and negative effects. Reapers are an eclectic group that have multiple variations of how they look.
★ BODY ★
Reapers are covered in feathers and are well known for it. The odds of finding a Reaper created without feathers is near impossible. Feathers can appear in small or large patches all over the body. Feathers do grow back if they are plucked or fall off. Reapers can grow regular hair, both on the head and in beard form. There are multiple types of feathers, some emulating birds of their world, such as peacocks, eagles, etc. Feathers can be long, short, ruffled, sickly, discolored, etc. Feathers are a staple for Reapers, although no one knows why feathers are so prominent. Reapers, much like humans, vary in height and weight. While Reapers are naturally strong, working on their physique can increase their natural strength as opposed to a Reaper who doesn't take care of themselves.
★ SEXUAL DIMORPHISM ★
Reapers are nearly identical to humans. Their genitalia, body shapes, etc resemble humans. The biggest thing to note is Reapers have the ability to change their sex at will. It is a more recent ability that has become present primarily for breeding with their charges. While Reapers can change their sex, they cannot possess both genitalia at once, they must choose if they want male or female genitalia. Reapers are capable of changing their bodies at will to appear more masculine or feminine should they desire. The changes are mostly more subtle and cannot be too extreme aka cannot be body structure changes- height, weight, bone structure, etc.
★ HORNS & EARS ★
Horns and ears come in a variety of sizes and shapes with some being rarer than others. There are no limits to what types of horns there are, ranging from small nubs to large antlers. Larger horns are known to occasionally cause discomfort and lead to headaches and migraines for the Reapers which can result in them shaving them down to reduce the pain. Horns will always grow back if shaved or removed if a Reaper had them to begin with. It's why shaving them down happens often as the horns will eventually grow back to their natural size. While horns grow back, they do not grow larger than what a Reaper had originally at the time they were brought into existence. Reaper’s hearing is equivalent to humans, with larger ears simply being cosmetic and serving no other purpose. It is possible for Reapers to go deaf, although it's not something they are born with. Ears do not grow back if severed and can result in hearing loss.
★ TAILS ★
All Reapers have tails with scythes at the end of them. The scythe acts as a form of offense and defense, being made of an unknown substance that cannot be broken. Hypothetically if a Reaper has their tail cut off, it will grow back with a scythe attached in about an hour. Scythes may take multiple forms, with the standard scythe shape being the most common. Other forms may include maces, among multiple others. These are rarer types of scythes, but they operate in the exact same way. Some larger scythes, like a mace, might be uncomfortable for a Reaper as the material they're made from is hardy and heavy. However, it's not often that the scythe is this heavy to cause discomfort. It's something that is a possibility, but not common. Scythes can pierce nearly any type of material and are known for being strong. The best option to dealing with a Reaper coming at you with their scythe is to sever the tail. Do not go for the scythe alone. A scythe’s ability to reap a soul has no affect on a Reaper’s charge or the Reaper themselves. It will phase through their body.
★ HANDS & FEET ★
Reaper's hands and feet are clawed. Their hands have five fingers with one being a thumb. By default, their feet have four toes with one dew claw. They always stand on their toes. Reapers may and can file their nails back if they wish not to have them clawed. They will grow back naturally in a sharp, claw shape. Much like humans, they are perfectly capable of maintaining the shape and color of them if they so wish. Again, Reapers are hardy, so they are able to land on their feet from a high distance and have little to no effect on their body. Unless they plan on jumping off the highest mountain, they are capable of jumping off roofs and landing with no problem on their feet. Reapers additionally are incredibly agile and can reach speeds up to ~30mph and possibly faster, if they try. This includes them being able to leap long distances.
★ WINGS ★
Reapers commonly do not possess wings. Wings are a more recent rare trait, that enable the Reaper the ability of flight without the use of their powers. Wings are classified if the Reaper can fly with them, as opposed to faux wings that just look like them. Wings can appear as dragon-like, eagle, bat, etc styled. They may possess feathers on them, or none at all. Wings are just as resilient as the Reaper and cannot be torn easily from the body. Harpy wings are very rare and also come with the ability to grow back. If harpy wings are mangled, have feathers torn off, etc, they will grow back. Normal wings, regardless of style and appearance will not grow back should they be severed. This is a main reason why harpy wings are incredibly rare, as they are a guarantee of flight, regardless if they should be damaged.
★ EYES & MOUTH ★
By default, if Reapers have pupils, they are normally slits, but there are rarer shapes that can occur. Their eyes are cat-like, with the ability to see in the dark and giving off a reflective glow when light shines on them. Reapers all have fangs of some sort and are omnivorous if they choose to eat. It is possible for Reapers to go blind, most of the time resulting from fights that damage the eye. Teeth will always grow back, fanged or otherwise, if they somehow loose their teeth (ie mostly fighting). A Reaper’s bite can be painful or pleasurable, depending on the Reaper and their intention.
